So here it is – my blog, what I have been thinking and pondering about for awhile – how it would look, what it would be about, how personal I would get, who my followers would be….and the list goes on. For the last six months I have felt such deep inspiration to communicate with others my journey to be a healthier person through my passion for cooking and embracing my body and soul. Truthfully, it has been a long time since I have felt something pulling me so strongly to do something and it sure feels good. I am in the medical device field by day, but find a calming sanctuary in the kitchen.

I have always loved to cook and experiment in the kitchen, but that love really bloomed when I moved to the Twin Cities and was surrounded by a mecca of local food organizations, farmers markets, and amazing sustainable restaurants. Growing up in a small rural Minnesota town meant that most people did not break far outside the meat/potato dinner, so when I saw what our food world really consisted of when I moved to the cities I knew I was in for a treat.  Instead of heading to the chain grocery stores, I can walk or bike to a number of farmers markets, even in the winter. Beyond that, there are three coops within 3 miles that are all about supporting local farmers. It is amazing to see how naturally flavorful so many of our staples are like fruits, vegetables, meat/seafood, etc. are without all the processing. Additionally my vision of food was further broadened when I decided to start a gluten-free, more raw diet. It has been so fun to experiment with different types of grains and different ingredients that are used in a gluten-free diet and I am excited to have you follow along on my journey of learning. Since changing my diet I am beginning to feel better in terms of energy, skin problems, my immune system, and my overall health. It is amazing what our bodies can do when we feed it and treat it with respect.

This blog will be a collection of healthy living, cooking, and embracing life. Here are some of the things you will see me blogging about:

1. Cooking all types of gluten free dishes from sweet to savory

2. Canning/Preserving (my new love!)

3. Restaurant/Product reviews

4. My journey beginning a gluten free lifestyle

5. Anything that happens in my life that is so cool I think you need to hear about it!

Cheers to a healthy life! Embrace each day as its own!
